Colleague transferring ownership of a Google Sheet to another colleague
Will it? Won't it? Spoiler alert: It'll work as long as the previous owner still uses Sapiengraph

/ FAQ

Will Sapiengraph formulas work if someone transfers ownership of their Google Sheet to me?

It depends on the previous owner:

  • If the previous owner is still a Sapiengraph user, Sapiengraph formulas will continue to work on the Google Sheet
  • If the previous owner is not a Sapiengraph user anymore, Sapiengraph formulas will not work on the Google Sheet

Previous owner is not a Sapiengraph user

Scenario 1: Previous owner used to be a Sapiengraph user, but their email was deleted after transfer

The previous owner used to be a Sapiengraph user. They created the spreadsheet, transferred ownership to you, and then had their email deleted. Now, they are no longer Sapiengraph user.

In this case, Sapiengraph formulas will NOT work on that Google Sheet.

Scenario 2: Previous owner was never a Sapiengraph user before and after transfer

The previous owner was never a Sapiengraph user. They created the spreadsheet, and then transferred ownership to you.

In this case, Sapiengraph formulas would NOT have worked on that Google Sheet. from the very start.

Previous owner is an active Sapiengraph user?

The previous owner was a Sapiengraph user. They created the spreadsheet, and then transferred ownership to you. They are still a Sapiengraph user.

Sapiengraph formulas will continue to work, as long as the new owner of the Google Sheet (you) has enough credits.

Any credit usage will be billed to the new owner of the spreadsheet. This works in the same way as using Sapiengraph on a shared spreadsheet.
